Planning a visit to Intrigue Wines? Whether you’re joining us for a tasting or embarking on a wine tour through the Okanagan, here are some frequently asked questions and helpful tips to ensure you have the best experience possible!
When is the Best Time to Wine Tour?
The Okanagan is a fantastic wine destination year-round! Our tasting room is open all year, offering experiences in every season. The summer months—June, July, and August—are the busiest, bringing lively energy and a vibrant atmosphere to the wineries. However, if you’re looking for a more relaxed pace and the flexibility to linger at each stop, consider visiting during the shoulder seasons—spring and fall. These months offer stunning vineyard views, fewer crowds, and the chance to truly savor your experience. Winter visits can also be magical, with cozy indoor tastings and festive seasonal offerings.
What Should I Wear?
Comfort is key when visiting a winery! We recommend casual yet tasteful attire, keeping in mind that this is an elevated tasting experience. Layering is a great strategy, as temperatures can change between indoor and outdoor spaces.
Is Food Available at the Winery?
Yes! We always have a variety of snacks available at Intrigue Wines, including our signature Social Bites charcuterie. However, availability may vary during the winter months, as these are pre-made at specific times. If you’re planning a visit and are interested in food options, we recommend contacting the winery in advance to check availability. Additionally, when our picnic area is open from May to October, we also allow you to bring your own picnic-style food or take-out to enjoy in our outdoor space.
What Are the Tasting Fees?
Our tasting fee is $6 per person, which helps cover the cost of the wine being poured.
Is Intrigue Wines Pet-Friendly?
Yes! During the months when our picnic area is open (May to October), you’re welcome to bring your furry friends along for the experience. Our outdoor tasting area allows pets to be beside you as you sip and savor your wines. We provide water dishes and shady spots to keep them comfortable. We just ask that pets remain on a leash, that you clean up after them, and that they do not enter the wine shop.
Is Intrigue Wines Family-Friendly?
Absolutely! We welcome families, and children can join their parents for a tasting experience. We even offer a small sample of juice for kids. While wineries are typically an adult-focused experience, children are welcome as long as they are accompanied by an adult and remain supervised at all times.
Do I Need a Designated Driver?
Yes! Safety first. If you’re planning to enjoy multiple tastings, be sure to arrange for a designated driver or hire a local wine tour operator. This allows you to fully enjoy your experience without the worry of driving.
What Identification is Required?
To participate in wine tastings, you must be 19 years or older, as per BC regulations. Please bring two pieces of identification, one of which must be government-issued, to confirm your age.
Can I Wear Perfume or Cologne?
We encourage visitors to keep fragrances to a minimum, as strong scents can interfere with wine aromas and impact the tasting experience.
Do I Have to Purchase Wine at Every Winery I Visit?
There is no obligation to buy, but if you find something special, taking a bottle home is a wonderful way to remember your visit or find the perfect gift.
How Should I Store My Wine While Touring?
If you’re touring during the summer months, we highly recommend bringing a cooler to store your wine and prevent it from overheating in your car. If you purchase multiple bottles, we also have wine boxes available to make transport easier.
